Area 5 Hosts Rotary Foundation Banquet

On November 5th, members of District 7570 made the journey to the Craddock Terry Hotel in Historic Downtown Lynchburg to celebrate the Rotary Foundation.  Representatives from each club in Area 5, led by District Foundation Celebration Chair Shannon Watts, orchestrated a fabulous evening complete with Silent Auction & Cocktail Hour.

Member of Lynchburg Morning Rotary in attendance included: Area 5 Assistant Governor Gary Christie as well as current President Paul Rothfuss & lovely wife Lillian, Foundation Chair Chad Mooney & his wife Amber, Immediate Past President Tracey Dixon & Public Image Chair/President Nominee LaShonda Delivuk.

Numerous Rotarians were honored for their generous giving in the form of Paul Harris fellows including Mikael Blido who received his first Paul Harris fellow for his creative fundraising efforts in 2016.  Tracey & Mikael raised $6,000 for the foundation through the Ironman competition, Game on Polio & selling cupcakes to the Stuart club.

District Governor Chris Runion & his wife Jennifer were also recognized as Major Donors to the foundation and received this beautiful keepsake in addition to a few new coveted Rotarian pins.

Our keynote speaker Carol A. Pandak, ED. D., Rotary International Director of Polio Plus updated us on the impact of our donations through her address.  Currently only three countries remain with cases of Polio but if we don't continue our efforts the number of cases could rise as high as 200,000 in 10 years.

District Governor Chris Runion had us commemorate this moment by posing for a panorama image of the room holding up our fingers to represent "we are this close".

The Silent Auction generated over $700 which will result in over $2,000 with matching funds for the Foundation.  Such a proud moment for Lynchburg to host such a successful event. Looking forward to more opportunities to collaborate, not just on the Area level but the district as well.
